MovieBar Launch Night Line-up...

The launch night of the third incarnation of…

8pm Monday 7th February 2011, The Cornerstone Pub, Elm Grove, Brighton

As seen in previous years there will be a short film quiz (themed around threequels, obviously) with prizes followed by screenings of the following vaguely themed selection of short films in three parts…

Part 1 – Films by exciting new people…

Light Time Project
Vivien Peach's hugely ambitious and innovative animation manages to be both dazzling and engaging as well as making you think 'wow, that must have taken forever!'

Thinking of Nothing

Sarah Mallabar's wonderfully surreal music video for the Duckworths fulfils a generation's dream (or perhaps just mine) of seeing a live-action Mr Benn.

Sam Miletti flaunts all warnings about working with children and succeeds in drawing excellent performances from his two leads in this dark, modern-day fairy-tale.

Sam will be coming along to talk about the film.

Part 2 - Films by (just as exciting) MovieBar regulars…

Things a Boy Can Do

MovieBar founder Chris Cook returns with a reinterpretation of the Just William stories told Gerry Anderson style.

Chris will be coming along to talk about the film.

Fighting Trousers

MovieBar regular Moog directs another fantastically bizarre music video for eccentric steampunk/hip-hop phenomenon Professor Elemental.

Hopefully Moog will be coming along to talk about the film.

Part 3 – Films by the new MovieBar team…

MovieBar logo designer, animator and fake shemp Peter Regan directs this surreal Lovecraftian music video for 80s avant-garde jazz group The Western Trio, also proving that an affinity for strangeness runs in the family...

Peter will be coming along to talk about the film.

Dark Future

Directed by Glenn Salvage this promo trailer uses a sample scene from a Brighton-based zombie feature written by me.

Fun fact - I later married the corpse from this film. I will be there with more fun facts like this one on the night.

At the last Son of Moviebar Ross Boyask screened the trailer for his martial arts/women-with-swords fantasy. This time he’ll be showing the opening three minutes of the film including a spectacularly ace fight scene that hints at much more awesomeness to come.

Ross will be along to talk about the film.

MovieBar - A monthly film screening and networking night for filmmakers and film lovers.

1st Monday of every month at The Cornerstone Pub in Brighton.
