MovieBar - 7th March 2011 Line-up...

8pm Monday 7th March 2011 – Film line-up

Last month we screened eight very short films. This month we’re screening three longer films and one epic.

The film quiz will be on films that are too long including a clip from the longest and most awesome sci-fi film ever made…at least one of those statements is true.

Also Rob Speight from out post sound (www.outpostsound.co.uk) will be coming along to talk about the importance of post-production audio.

The line-up…

The Ghoul Lord

James Atkins combines high production values with witty dialogue and likeable characters in this unique fantasy/comedy short.

James will be coming along to talk about the film.

The Ascension Agency

Daniel Birt and Ged Cleugh’s complex and unsettling psychological thriller squeezes all the tension possible from its running time and often resembles a miniature feature in its ambitious scale and scope.

Dan and Ged will be coming along to talk about the film.

 Toothless

Steven Dorrington shows us what the Tooth Fairy might look like as a character in a Ken Loach film in this expertly realised and very funny mockumentary.

Director of Photography Emma Bailey will be coming along to talk about the film.
Charlie Chaplin

Nathan D’Arcy Roberts directs MovieBar regular Nick Bartlett in this quirky comedy about a drug deal that takes a bizarre turn.

Nick will be coming along to talk about the film.

MovieBar Launch Night - February 2011 Postscript...

Thanks to everyone who came along on Monday! It was a fantastic night and it was great to have so much support for the first one. Other than a few minor technical issues (including nearly deafening everyone!) I think it ran pretty smoothly, but I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback - you can e-mail me at moviebar@ymail.com.

Thanks also to all the filmmakers who came along to talk about their work. For anyone who couldn't make it along most of the films are online...

You can read more about the film on Sam's website.

Fighting Trousers by Moog...

You can see more of Moog's work on his YouTube channel.

Elasto by Peter Regan...

Pete has more films and animations on his YouTube channel and he sometimes updates his blog which is here.

The opening scene from Ross Boyask's feature Warrioress that we screened isn't online but you can see the trailer...

For more information check out the website and join the Facebook group.

Chris Cook's film Things a Boy Can Do and the trailer for Dark Future are not online right now but I'll link to them when they are.

Also there are more details on the Brighton Filmmakers Coalition 48 hour film challenge here.

The next event will be on Monday 7th March. I'll be in touch soon with details of the films we'll be screening.

If you haven't already joined, the Facebook group for MovieBar is here and if you want to be added to the mailing list send an e-mail to moviebar@ymail.com.

We're also still looking for submissions for future events so please e-mail us if you have a film you would like us to consider for screening.

That's it for now, hope to see you all next month!
