Moviebar April 2012 Postscript

April's Moviebar was another fantastic night so a big thanks to the filmmakers who made it along to talk about their films. Here's how it went down...

Zombeez & Puppy Dog Tails
We kicked off proceedings with Zombeez, a slick zombie ad from James Atkins which was followed by his creepy thriller Puppy Dog Tails. James came along to talk about making these shorts, each done in very short spaces of time.

A Safe Guide to Dining
We then screened the infommercial spoof A Safe Guide to Dining from director Molly Brown...

Molly came along to talk about shooting everything on her iPhone and the lengthy editing process to bring all the effects together.

Next up was Stranded from writer/director Luther Bhogal-Jones, a character-piece about 3 sets of characters crossing paths on a deserted beach.

Luther came along to talk about getting the short finished over several years and you can read more on his blog Wars of Attrition.

The Strange World of Max X
We then showed a trio of surreal shorts from filmmakers Dave Packer and Anthony Carpendale featuring their Max X character...

Dave and Ant talked about how they've been commissioned to make a series of Max X shorts for German TV which they've filmed in Berlin and in and around Brighton.

Next was a short relationship drama with minimal dialogue from director Simon Birks. The film can be viewed over at mi shorts.

8-Bit Waterslide and Protest Reality
We ended the night with a couple of colourful shorts from animation team Tea & Cheese which blend reality with 8-bit videogame nostalgia...
